The Second International Conference on "Modern drilling technologies, horizontal drilling, overhaul of wells and coiled tubing" was held in Lviv on 20-21 May. The Conference was attended by representatives of more than 30 oil and gas companies from 6 countries: Poland, Czech Republic, Belarus, Germany, Canada and Ukraine. The Conference was organized by Newfolk, oil and gas consulting company.
On the first day of the Conference at a luxurious Nobilis hotel delegates were working in a format of three sessions during which 15 presentations dedicated to new technologies in drilling and opportunities for their use in modern Ukrainian reality were made. According to Andrey Zakrevskiy, Director General of Newfolk, such events should become a unifying platform for real professionals in oil and gas sector of Ukraine. "We will hold such conferences twice a year together with our colleagues. It's perfect that this format is interesting for all participants of Ukrainian oil and gas market. In the nearest future we plan to dedicate a separate session to investment projects because without investors the full use of the potential of Ukraine in this area cannot be realized" - said Andrey Zakrevskiy.
Stepan Kozitskiy, Director General of Drilling Company Goryzonty added: “In Western Ukraine there are significant hydrocarbon reserves development of which is related to introduction of advanced technologies that may enable operate effectively in small and depleted fields. There are so many of them in our region. Therefore, we believe that a widespread use of modern drilling technologies, hydraulic fracturing, a method of radial drilling and coiled tubing can give an opportunity to make a breakthrough in the industry and significantly increase gas and oil production in Carpathian region”. It’s worth recalling that in late April Drilling Company Goryzonty opened Khrekhivske gas field.
"It is important that the Conference takes place in Lviv, a capital of a region where European oil and gas industry originated. Now in difficult time for Ukraine we should make efforts to increase domestic production of hydrocarbons to strengthen energy independence of Ukraine" - said Gennadiy Kobal, one of organizers of the Conference.
On the second day of the Conference delegates visited places related to birth of oil and gas industry of Europe: the cities of Boryslav and Skhodnytsya. Also the delegates had an excursion to Discovery Drilling Equipment plant in Stryi city.
A fruitful meeting of organizers and delegates finished in dinner at Villa Austria restaurant in the heart of history of European oil and gas industry nearby Lviv.
The Conference brought together more than fifty participants who wish by means of their professional work and sharing experiences with colleagues to further promote Ukraine's movement towards energy independence.
