From October 27 to November 8 of 2014 a course of professional development dedicated to “Drilling fluids and special liquids” was held for oil and gas professionals in Poltava. It became possible under Agreement on cooperation between Poltava National Technical Yuri Kondratyuk University and NGO “Union of drillers of Ukraine”. It was the first experience of Ukraine in holding such courses.
The course covered a wide range of aspects and nuances as to application of drilling fluids and liquids. In particular listeners attended some lectures dedicated to purposes and functions of drilling fluids and special liquids, aspects of quality control and technological properties of drilling fluids, their classification, the use of modern drilling fluids produces by «SIRIUS» company (Germany), equipment for preparing and cleaning up drilling fluids produced by «MI SWACO» STP company and the “Burova Technika”. During the course due attention was paid at environmental aspects of using drilling fluids and special liquids and issues of safety in their preparation.
Lectures were delivered by representatives of leading Ukrainian and international service companies. In order to acquire practical skills in quality control and technological properties of drilling fluids practical trainings were conducted in the drilling and plugging laboratory of the “Burova Technika”. The study group learned how to cope with the equipment and production process of preparing and cleaning up drilling fluids directly at the drilling site of «Poltava Petroleum Company». After the learning process all listeners passed an exam to receive international certificates and certificates of professional development of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine.
In order to improve professional level of specialists in oil and gas industry such courses dedicated to different aspects will be conducted on a regular basis 3-4 times a year.
